PhotoScribe™ is a company that specializes in photographic laser engraving. Our PhotoScribe™ pendants and jewelry are personalized with a high-resolution laser engraved image.

PhotoScribe™ is a very simple process; you take a photograph from your customer and send it in to our factory in New York. 5 business days from our receipt of the order we will return the original photograph, in its original condition, with the pendant of their choice, satisfaction guaranteed.

Two processes are available the first being laser engraving, which is a black and white image for lack of better terminology. There are no inks or dyes involved in this process. The laser blasts small holes into the gold, creating a permanent image. There is also color enamel that is a true color recreation of the photograph on the gold. This is done in a heat-baked process, similar to true jewelers enameling.

With laser engraving we extend a lifetime warranty on the image. We cannot make the same statement regarding the color enamel, because as with any color item, i.e. clothes, cars, etc., the sun’s rays can affect it. Our 30-day satisfaction guarantee and a guarantee against manufacturing defects however, cover both.

PhotoScribe™ makes a great family heirloom that can be handed down from generation to generation. All framed pendants have a mineral watch crystal covering the front and back making them water and scratch resistant. Since the mineral watch crystals are bonded to the pendant using a heat and pressure treatment, if a customer wants to personalize their pendant further by engraving the back they must do so at the time they place the order.

PhotoScribe™ offers many options for back engraving. The back engraving can be as simple as a few words and a date; or as intricate as a person’s handwriting, children’s artwork or another photograph. The options on the back of the pendant are limitless, You and the Customer can use your imagination.

PhotoScribe™ is great for any occasion or no occasion at all. All products are available in 14k yellow and most in white gold and sterling silver. Also regarding the catalog, all pendants are shown as actual size so the customer can see an accurate representation of the real pendant.

One of the best ways to get the news of PhotoScribe™ out there is to have sales staff, a family member or yourself wear a pendant. The difference from a good idea and a great pendant is when the person makes it his/her own. The feeling about PhotoScribe™ pendants change when there is a personal connection.

Due to the quick turn around time there are cut-off dates for each holiday during the year. There is a Cut-Off Date list on this site.
If the customer does not have a photograph with them you can suggest a few solutions.

• Have some plain blank gold pendants that you can sell, these can be gift boxed and wrapped. This will get the customer back into the store quickly as they have already paid for the pendant. You can either send in the blank pendant with the photograph to be made or send in the photograph with the correct style number and keep the blank pendant for the next customer in a similar situation.
  
  
• You can sell them a pre-paid order envelope. Completely fill out all the forms in the store, including the store name, phone number, style number and back engraving instructions. The store can then collect full payment and give the customer the self-addressed mailing envelope. All they have to do is go home supply the photograph and mail it directly to PhotoScribe™. We also strongly suggest that your customer use a traceable delivery system. Once a pendant is done we will ship it back to the store unless instructed by the store to ship it back to the end-consumer.
  
  
• We can also supply PhotoScribe gift certificates for the stores to use.

The Mikasa gift set shown on the back of the catalog, gives the you the ability to sell a pendant and then not worry about anything else, all paperwork at that point is included in the package so the end-consumer can send the photo and blank pendant directly to PhotoScribe™, with the filled in order envelope.

Corporate or vacation spot items can also be created. If a jeweler is in an area that has a specific landmark, we can create specific jewelry for that area. We can recreate anything, as long as we do not infringe on any copyrighted material.

We can also laser engrave on many other products, such as lockets, medals and old fashioned gold page booklet pendants. We offer this service to all our Dealers. Dealers send in the item they wish to engrave and we send them a formal price quote that the Dealer will need to sign off on as an acceptance of the price.

At no time during the PhotoScribe™ processes are the photographs harmed. The photographs are scanned into our computer system; the computer-scanned image is what we work with. This image is manipulated with proprietary programs and then archived. The images are archived using the order envelope bar code numbers. All orders are returned via 2-day Federal Express, unless otherwise requested. In theory in less than two weeks the order is back in the store and the sale is finished. Just be aware that we have no control on how long it take the post office or any delivery process to deliver from the store to our location in New York. This is why we recommend some traceable system like Federal Express, UPS, certified mail etc. so the store can track the order.

When we receive an order we always focus in on the face or faces in the photograph, we crop the image around the shoulder area. Should your customer want something other than that we suggest that they make photocopies of their photographs and cut and paste those, then send us the original photos as well as the copies for us to follow. At no time should your customer cut, mark or mar their photographs in any way, we can fix and rearrange most things using the computer. We do not charge extra to merge 2 photographs together, We also do not charge for minor touch ups or moving people around.

We strongly advise that a torch not be used on the pendant as it could damage the watch crystal. Many experienced Jewelers have had no problem changing a bale but for most repairs we would prefer it be returned to PhotoScribe™.

PhotoScribe™ gives the jeweler a great opportunity to extend his or her business beyond the “normal” store business. The jewelers can tap into new and exciting areas they could not tap in to before. For example: the maternity department in the local hospital (newborn photography), funeral homes, and memorial jewelry and not to forget the local pet stores and veterinarians.

Company Policy

We maintain a database of all our Dealers and when an end-consumer contacts us via our web-site or telephone looking for a Dealer we use the database to find them a Dealer in their area. If any Dealers deal either by mail or Internet we will also refer those two services. PhotoScribe™ does not sell directly to end consumer; the distribution is only through Authorized Dealers.

Shipping Information

All PhotoScribe pendants are custom-made to your customer's specific order. PhotoScribe Guarantees to ship the order in 5 business days from the receipt of the photograph. 2-Day service, unless instructed otherwise will be used to return the finished pendant and photograph.
